FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
CAN I PARTICIPATE IN OTHER SPORTS? YES!
Band and Colorguard members have participated in almost every sport available on campus: soccer, tennis, water polo, golf, baseball, basketball, volleyball, softball, track, cross country, cheer, swimming, diving, and yes…even football. We work with coaches on campus to make sure this is possible. Make sure you discuss your intentions with both your coach and the band director.

HOW MUCH TIME CAN I EXPECT TO SPEND IN PRACTICES, FOOTBALL GAMES, AND COMPETITIONS?
During the summer we will have one day camp per week (9a – 12p). Attendance is not mandatory but HIGHLY encouraged. Then, we have our mandatory, one week summer camp just before school begins. Percussion and Colorguard have an additional one week camp. Once the school year starts (September to mid November), we have one after school practice every Tuesday until 7:00p. Percussion and Colorguard have one day of additional after school practice as well.
The Band and Colorguard attend all home football games.
The Band and Colorguard compete from October thru November in Saturday field and/or parade competitions. These competitions are usually in the local area, but will take most of the day.
The spring semester involves festival competitions for the band that usually will not involve weekends. The Band also attends all Home League varsity basketball games (a total of 5-6). Additionally, the Band has a few evening concerts (Holiday, Spring, and Plummer).
Winter Drumline and Winterguard competitions do involve evening practices and weekend competitions.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO BE IN BAND?
The band fair share donation is $150 per student, per semester*. Winterguard and Winter Drumline (both are open to all interested students) have additional costs associated with them that vary from year to year.*
There are some initial uniform costs for someone new to band (or if you need new equipment), such as shoes (one white pair and one black pair), and gloves. The cost for everything new is about $55.00. Finally, there are band shirts for $15 each and band hoodies (not mandatory) for $30 each.
*Flexible payment plans are available (discuss with the Band Director), and most donations are tax deductable. Check with your tax advisor.
